What is CNG?
Compressed natural gas, commonly referred to as CNG, is natural gas that is compressed to high pressures so large volumes can be stored in small places, such as a vehicles' fuel tank. CNG has been used as a vehicle fuel for over 50 years for limited purposes. Recent improvements in CNG technology coupled with the rise in gasoline prices is quickly making CNG a viable option for mainstream vehicle applications. IGS Energy CNG Services is committed to expanding the use of CNG as a vehicle fuel.
- Abundant: It is estimated that there is a 100 + year supply of natural gas located in the United States.
- Affordable: The retail cost of CNG is usually about $2.00-$2.40 per Gas Gallon Equivalent (GGE).
- Clean: CNG reduces emissions of up to 90% as compared to gasoline.
- Domestic: 88 percent of the natural gas consumed in the United States is produced in the U.S and 98 percent of natural gas is produced in North America.
- Safe: Natural gas vehicles are as safe (if not safer) to operate as gasoline or diesel vehicles.
