What is energy deregulation?
Natural gas deregulation legislation enables the natural gas market to operate on free market principles. Deregulation separates the sale of natural gas as a commodity from its distribution. The commodity is available at a competitive price and under competitive conditions, but the distribution, facilitated by the utility, is a standard regulated charge. What businesses qualify as commercial and industrial customers?
The qualification rules differ by utility, but generally, for natural gas, if you use more than 1,500 MCF, 15,000 CCF or 15,000 therms (Unit terminology varies by utility), you could qualify as a commercial and industrial customer with IGS Energy.
