The Story Behind IGS Energy Home Energy Consultants

Picture this:

It’s the middle of the afternoon. You’ve just finished putting away the lunch dishes. You’re about to settle into a cup of coffee and some afternoon television before prepping for your evening plans when there’s a knock at the door. Your knee-jerk reaction is to get him out of there before he wakes up your napping kids.

You open the door and are greeted by a warm smile and a “How are you?” You stop him short and tell him you’re not interested. But before you can shut the door, he mentions your son’s play in the football game on Friday.

Ten minutes later, you find yourself asking him questions about your utilities, discussing the amount of stress on your pipes and wires with five kids running around, and talking about the stats for next week’s game.

Not quite the normal experience from a door-to-door salesman, right?

Changing the world of door-to-door.

Forbes has predicted that the number of door-to-door sales jobs will decline 15% by 2018. And it’s likely the result of technological growth and an overstimulated society. Consumers have access to so much information that many don’t believe they need face-to-face interaction with sales people anymore. As society becomes more private when it comes to their homes, homeowners aren’t as likely to invite a stranger inside.

So, why does IGS Energy still have a fleet of Home Energy Consultants (HECs) out in the field?

It’s simple – our customer service model relies on the personal touch our HECs have with our customers. Our success is based upon customers who understand the industry enough to know they have a choice. By building personal relationships with customers in the communities where we live and work, our door-to-door approach allows us to make sales that we feel good about because we helped customers make the right decisions for them.

Building relationships as a way of business.

“Customer service represents the heart of an HEC working for IGS. Customers expect transparency, integrity, and character from the companies they do business with. I approach every customer as though they were a family member, doing what is in their best interest.

At the end of the day, I want to make sure I reflect IGS Energy as a company that goes above and beyond a customer’s expectation. I look forward to creating long-term relationships each and every day with people whose lives I can impact, who can use my expertise, and who wants to do business with someone who genuinely cares for them and their needs.” – Deb Cerceo, York, PA

Changing the industry.

Let’s be honest, the energy industry can seem incredibly complicated. In order to be a fully informed consumer, one would need to keep up with the industry news, monitor the changing rates, plus manage your own usage – which, frankly, sounds frustrating and overwhelming.

Even if you’re not interested in purchasing any of IGS Energy’s products, a Home Energy Consultant is full of industry knowledge and is trained to break down and simplify all of that information for you – so that you can move forward with a holistic understanding what you can do with your energy.

It’s not just about getting you signed up for IGS Energy product.

Home Energy Consultants are passionate about educating people of the choices they have when it comes to their home’s energy – and with a focus on integrity and transparency. This means that they will be honest with you, even if that means recommending an option other than an IGS Energy product. Home Energy Consultants are equipped to help you determine what services and products work best for you, your home, and your budget.

Simplifying your energy choices, just for you.

“Our industry is a complicated one, so I try to make sure my customers know that they have a choice and can choose the company that will supply their energy.

I use a lot of analogies with my customers to make sure they understand the fluctuation in the market and how they can take control of their budget despite what the market is doing.”
– John Vallée Jr., Dublin, OH

Changing the world.

Our Home Energy Consultants don’t just work in your community – they’re residents, neighbors, and friends, too.

They volunteer in the community, attend local sporting events, participate on local nonprofit and business boards, and shop local businesses.

These aren’t people that simply visit a neighborhood once, make a sale, and leave. IGS Energy Home Energy Consultants know that they have a responsibility to serve customers in an authentic and transparent manner, while also giving back to the areas where they work and live.

These folks are vested in building good business and having a positive and transformational impact in their communities, just like you.

Serving customers and communities every day.

“Human relationships are a need we each have in our lives, and in my career, I have the opportunity to bring customers into the IGS Energy family by providing excellent customer service, but also by being a part of the community. My goal is to provide value to the customer through the products and services we offer, but also by serving as a member of the community that I and my customers live in.

Working with many organizations and volunteers in the two cities we serve, I have helped to donate over 1.3 million pounds of food to those in need. These efforts have been recognized and supported by the mayors, police departments, and court systems in each city.” – Michael Simmons, Massillon, OH
